November begins with Chiron, Uranus and Neptune and all retrograde but Neptune stations direction the 27th.
Note: All the dates below are for Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time.
Mercury Retrograde
[reprint from last month with some additional points for reflection]
Mercury moves retrograde on November 1 at close to 27 Scorpio, emphasizing the Scorpio Taurus polarity as it is a key player in the Taurus Full Moon which takes place on November 13.
Key dates / degrees
• Exact dates: retrograde from November 1 to 21
• Sensitive degrees: 12 to 27 Scorpio
• Full time of influence: 13 October to December 8
• Time for insight: around November 12 when the new Mercury cycle begins at the Inferior Conjunction of Mercury and the Sun at close to 19 Scorpio.
• Time to act on new ideas / beliefs: November 21 to December 8
Mercury will remain retrograde until November 21 when it turns direct at close to 12 degrees of Scorpio. Please be aware that the retrograde phenomenon is activated from the time that Mercury enters the loop to the time that it leaves: October 13 to December 8. The most chaotic times are when Mercury stations – the few days around November 1 and 21 when Mercury adjusts to the change of direction.
The whole retrograde phase is a potent time for reflection and review … a time when we can become aware of habitual beliefs and thought patterns and make the adjustments necessary to align our thinking with the person we are now, especially regards the house[s] involved in our personal horoscope.
When Mercury is retrograde we can get a fresh perspective on our life if we can avoid the pitfall of anxiety when things don’t seem to flow. If there are blocks and delays [especially regards the house where Mercury is retrograding] use the time to ask yourself:
This is a great time to meditate, reflect, research, seek answers, sort out your paperwork, return calls and generally attend to all the things you have been too busy to do earlier.
Remember, Mercury retrograde always provides us with the opportunity to free our thinking from habitual ruts and develop a more conscious set of mental attitudes and beliefs. Concerns may arise early in the retrograde phase but around the time the new cycle begins on November 12 new solutions and insight may emerge. Sit with your insights until after November 21 when Mercury goes direct. The next few weeks are the time to express your insights and put new plans into action.
The Full Moon in Taurus
The Full Moon in Taurus falls on November 13 at close to 20 Taurus and is opposite both the Sun and Mercury in Scorpio, making this is a powerful time for reflection on how we experience the Taurus / Scorpio polarity.
The full moon occurs the day after Mercury conjuncts the Sun at 19 Scorpio, the key point in the retrograde cycle when a new cycle is seeded. Both these events signify powerful times for reflection, insight and inner work, so try to set some time aside around November 12 and 13 to journal, meditate and reflect with special consideration on the three bulleted points above.

- Are you really committed to the course of action or is it merely done from habit?
- How may you be [unconsciously] contributing to the delay?
- How you could do things differently?

The full moon in Taurus puts the spotlight on the Taurean part of all of us, highlighting values, security and our relationship with the physical, material and financial realms. We may be challenged to re-evaluate our values – what is of real importance at this point in time – and reflect on our relationship with the physical and materials realms that Taurus rules: money, possessions, material security.
This New Moon forms no stressful aspects and contains three supportive aspects; a trine to Saturn [and Pluto]and a sextile to Neptune. These two planets are also sextile each other, suggesting an easier flow between pragmatism, duty and responsibility [Saturn] and imagination, creativity, intuition and feeling [Neptune].
The opposition with the Sun in Scorpio highlights the Scorpio / Taurus polarity: our urge to build, create and hold on as opposed to the urge to let go and transform. It may be time where we need to re-evaluate our need to share and experience greater intimacy [Scorpio] versus out need to set clear boundaries that protect our possessions and the things that we value [Taurus]. Only honest self-reflection will reveal if and where we have lost the balance here.
With Mercury retrograde conjunct the Sun in Scorpio we are challenged to both reflect on our values and verbalize our insights, although it may be wise to wait until Mercury moves direct [after November 21] if you feel you may be too intense or holding back repressed anger. Check in with yourself to see if you are coming from passion and a desire to heal [positive Scorpio] or aggression and the need to hurt and control [negative Scorpio]; if it is the latter I would sit with your motivation a little longer.
The Sagittarius New Moon.
The Sagittarius New Moon falls close to 4 Sagittarius on November 27 and is quincunx Uranus, making this a high energy time that may be stimulating but need careful channeling.
Sagittarius is the Jupiter ruled fire sign that is in a continual quest to expand its horizons and engage in the search for meaning. It encompasses the archetypes of the student, the teacher, the traveler, the philosopher and the preacher. The Sagittarius New Moon always challenges us to see the big picture and let go limited perspectives. This may be an auspicious time to embark on a new adventure, large or small, internal or external …something that fires you up!
The shadow side of Sagittarius can be a tendency to excess and burn out, so the trick is to find something that inspires you without going over the top.

Uranus is quincunx this new moon [and opposite Mars] and strikes a discordant note that can emphasize the desire to run away, cut off or act erratically. Used in a constructive way, Uranus challenges us to be more authentic and honour the Self in all relationships. The challenge is to not fall prey to His shadow energy which can be overstimulating to the point of mania. The Uranian urge for change can become rebellious and contrary, activating the saboteur archetype.
If you feel more wired than usual, see if you can accept the challenge to find a constructive outlet for the energy rather than acting in a way that is reactive and impulsive.
