The New Moon on February 10 at close to 21 Aquarius: Chinese New Year of the Dragon
This is a power packed New Moon as it marks Chinese New year, is the 2nd of 5 supermoon New Moons… and it is in a tight square to Uranus.
Chinese New Year is traditionally time to honour the ancestors, let go the past year and give thanks for safe passage. As it is also a time of new beginnings it is common to ask for blessings for the year ahead. For those of you who have not set your intentions for the 2024, this New Moon can provide another opportunity to clear your clutter – physically, emotionally and mentally – and reflect on what you need to embrace to move forward in your life. With all of the retrograde energy shifting it does feel an auspicious start to the New Year and Dragon years are said to be auspicious.
This is also the second of 5 new moon Supermoons in a row. This name was coined by astrologer Richard Noelle to describe new and full moons that are closest to Earth so they can look a little bigger. Moon sensitive people will feel these lunations more strongly as they may highlight whatever feeling state you are experiencing. People prone to anxiety may feel this one more strongly, especially as it is in a tight square to Uranus.
These Supermoons – March is the closest – can impact on the earth’s water with king tides and sometimes floods and storms, exacerbating the effects of climate change in coastal areas.

Uranus always invites us to be open to change but its shadow can activate the saboteur if our quest for greater freedom and authenticity is not coming from the heart.
People with planets around 20 degrees of the fixed signs – Aquarius, Leo, Taurus and Scorpio - will feel this most intensely.
Full Moon on February 24 at close to 5 Virgo
This full moon chart has Mercury, the Sun, Saturn and Neptune, all in Pisces opposing the full moon in Virgo, calling us to ground our Piscean dreams, pay attention to our health and the more mundane physical realities and practicalities of everyday life.
People with planets around 20 degrees of the fixed signs – Aquarius, Leo, Taurus and Scorpio - will feel this most intensely.
Full Moon on February 24 at close to 5 Virgo
This full moon chart has Mercury, the Sun, Saturn and Neptune, all in Pisces opposing the full moon in Virgo, calling us to ground our Piscean dreams, pay attention to our health and the more mundane physical realities and practicalities of everyday life.
The chart contains a lot of mutable energy with 5 of the ten planets in mutable signs: the Moon in Virgo, Sun, Mercury, Saturn and Neptune all in Pisces. The danger here is scattering our energy and running the risk of falling into excessive busy-ness and anxiety if we feel we have to fix everything all at once.
This full moon is in opposition Saturn to and trine to Jupiter - a so-called easy-opposition - perhaps giving us the potential to use the Saturn energy more constructively. With Saturn in Pisces opposite the already somewhat hyper vigilant full moon we are being challenged to bring structure and pragmatism to our creative and spiritual pursuits and to ground them in our everyday Saturnian reality.

The Virgo Full Moon is always a call to re-balance body, mind and spirit and become more grounded. It is an opportunity to see if we are lost in our dreams [Pisces] or lost in the everyday details and ‘busy-ness’ of our life [Virgo]. How can we create more balance between these realms?
Virgo is the perfectionist and worrier of the zodiac so this full moon – along with Saturn’s presence - challenges us to find more gentleness and compassion for ourselves and others [Sun, Neptune, Saturn and Mercury in Pisces ] It may require letting go destructive [self] criticism and judgements that generate anxiety and alienation [dysfunctional Virgo].
One way this can play out is retreating into destructive escapist patterns to numb our feelings of imperfection, but the opposition is challenging us to bring these two polarities into harmony: how can we create grounded, practical rituals that enhance both our physical and psychological well-being?
This full moon will have more impact on people with planets close to 5 degrees of mutable signs: Virgo, Pisces and Gemini and Sagittarius.
