Morning Sky
This month will showcase a line up of planets in the early morning sky, a treat for those of you who rise early.
If you look east before sunrise from the start of the month you will see the waning Moon near Saturn and can watch each morning as it moves past Mars, Mercury and Jupiter. It will also conjunct Neptune and Uranus, but unfortunately they are not visible to the naked eye. Venus Cazimi
Venus has now disappeared from the sky as the Morning Star and will soon make her superior conjunction with the Sun and will then reappear as the Evening Star …around July 5 to 6. Look then to see Her soon after sunset in the west in early July.
The Superior conjunction takes place on June 5 and this is when Venus is described as being ‘in the heart of the Sun’ … or cazimi. This is said to be an auspicious time and one of potential purification and rebirth. It is a powerful time for shadow work as well as a potent time for invoking the energy of the Sacred Feminine to bring greater peace to the planet.
In the ancient Sumerian myth this is when Inanna [Venus] is reborn after Her death at the hands of her sister, Ereshkigal, Queen of the Underworld. The imagery suggests we too can be reborn, like the Goddess, if we pay attention to our fears and pain. Ereshkigal granted Inanna rebirth [after killing Her] as a boon to two tiny ‘mourners’ who commiserated and validated the loss of her beloved partner. Be prepared to listen to your own ’dark sister’, validate Her pain and seek Her guidance to move forward.
I suggest this is also a wonderful time to pray for world peace…
New Moon at 16 Gemini on June 6
The New Moon falls at 10.37pm on June 6, the day after Venus cazimi and occurs at 16 degrees of Gemini 17 minutes and is conjunct Venus and square to Saturn. The Venus square Saturn aspect is part of the cazimi chart and can be viewed a number of ways. It suggests it is time to reflect on close relationships and our self-worth and if we feel things are out to balance to decide on a course of constructive action to remedy the situation. Saturn often signals the need to take action …to do something. On a collective level I feel it is a challenge to bring more peace and love into the world…

Each year the Gemini New Moon suggests a busy time when our curiosity may be stimulated. It can create a more sociable and extroverted atmosphere where we may feel inclined to explore something new or just break out of our routine. The Gemini New Moon also highlights our thinking and communicating and can illuminate outmoded patterns that are ripe for change.
With Saturn squaring both the New Moon we may find the Inner Critic becomes active and leads to a sense of flatness, especially if you have planets around the degrees mentioned. Saturn often tests us and challenges us to take responsibility for whatever is causing concern. His presence may be a call for us to take action, even though we would rather not. What can we do to reclaim our authority if this is the case …and what may we have been avoiding?
Note: this lunation may be a trigger for events and / or insights for those of us having Saturn transits. Saturn will be at close to 19 degrees of Pisces so it will activate any planets around 19 degrees of mutable signs: Gemini, Sagittarius and Virgo and Pisces.
Full Moon at close to 1 Capricorn on June 22
The Full Moon on June 22 occurs the day after the Winter Solstice [Southern hemisphere] and falls at 1 degree of Capricorn 7 minutes and is opposite Venus and Mercury and in a very tight square to Neptune.

The annual Full Moon in Capricorn activates the Cancer / Capricorn polarity and invites reflection on how we balance these two energies: home life and career, public and private life, nurturing and authority, bonding and setting boundaries. This year the lunation will activate any planets or points within a 3 - 5 degree orb of the 1 degree Capricorn full moon; around especially points in late Sagittarius and early Capricorn, late Gemini and early Cancer, Late Pisces and early Aries and late Virgo and early Libra.
Other, specifically Capricorn issues, that may arise could include concerns around our:
With Neptune squaring both the Sun and Moon and forming the apex of a t-square pattern – here and in the Solstice chart of June 21 – this lunation is asking us to allow our feelings and dreams to offer us guidance while requiring us to navigate Neptune’s shadow: confusion, denial, self-delusion, and escape into old addictive patterns that offer the illusion of an escape from anxiety. At the soul level Neptune asks us to let go our judgements and dualistic / adversarial thinking and surrender to Divine Love …or at least start to imagine what this may mean.
It is important to be aware that this energy can also be highly creative if we can own our confusion and allow the fog to lift in its own time. Neptune always challenges us to surrender to feeling and not act until something ‘feels right’: in other words, we are challenged to listen to our intuition. If you are experiencing confusion and can allow yourself not to ‘know’ the answer immediately and reframe anxiety as part of the creative process, then the outcome may be more constructive and illuminating.
Note: This lunation may act as a trigger for events and or insights for those of us having Neptune transits. Neptune is at the final degree of Pisces – 29 minutes Pisces and 54 seconds – and will particularly trigger planets around the end of mutable signs and the beginning of cardinal signs: late Sagittarius and early Capricorn, late Pisces and early Aries, late Virgo and early Libra and late Pisces and early Aries.

The following information is reprinted from past years...
The Winter Solstice [in the Southern Hemisphere] or Cancer Ingress of the Sun marks the time of the longest nights and shortest days when the Sun is reborn from the darkness. The times of sunrise and sunset appear to stand still for two weeks before and after the peak time of June 21, and then the hours of day light begin to slowly lengthen. The Winter Solstice therefore symbolizes the rebirth of the solar principle as well as the light and the divine spark within us all. It marks the beginning of a new solar cycle and is time for those of us who live in the Southern Hemisphere to create our New Year Resolutions and reflect on what we want to achieve.
Astrologically the Solstice marks the moment of the Cancer Ingress; this is the moment when the Sun is overhead at the Tropic of Cancer and moves into the sign of Cancer. The four ingress charts [the solstices and equinoxes] mark the turning points in the seasonal cycle and the annual solar cycle. As such they are given added weight in astrology and are considered to influence the next quarter, or 3 months.
A Simple Solstice Ritual
The most traditional way to celebrate the Solstice is to rise early on the day of June 21 to observe and honour the sunrise. Ideally you will find a place where you can observe the horizon, free of buildings and welcome the Sun as He appears. Allow yourself to be filled with wonder and gratitude for His rebirth. As the Sun gains strength and power, feel yourself being blessed with His light and vitality and invoke the blessing of the Divine Masculine for the year ahead.
A special Solstice meal is another wonderful way to honour this energy. This is the time for roast dinners and a roaring fire where a special Yule log was burned to honour the Sun and bring his warmth and radiance into the home. If you don’t have a fire, then light gold candle to honour the Sun and invite his blessings into your life and home.
A more intimate ritual could also be called for…
Create a sacred space with candles, incense, meditation and intention. Tune into your inner guidance to find the seeds of new potentials that are stirring within your inner darkness. When you are ready, record the seeds in red or gold ink [as long as they do not seek to influence or harm any other individual] and then burn them in your fire or from your candle. As the paper burns, see your seeds flowering and your potentials manifesting as the fays grow longer and the Sun grows stronger. Give thanks and light your candle whenever you need to refresh your visions and intentions.
Blessed Be!
