September 2026 Newsletter
This newsletter will focus on the two lunations for September: the September 11 New Moon at close to 18 Virgo and the Full Moon on the 27th at close to 4 Aries.
I also have a look at the retrograde cycles of the outer planets for those of you who may be interested in working with them.
Venus will station retrograde on October 2 at 8 Scorpio and I will cover this in my next newsletter.

Saturn, Chiron, Neptune and Pluto are all retrograde now and Uranus will join them on September 11, hence all the outer planets - planets from Saturn out - will be in the retrograde phase of their orbits by the end of September.
The annual retrograde movement of the outer planets emphasizes the process of review and re-evaluation, personally and collectively, and is a reminder that we need to undergo a regular internal stock-take and see if our outer world is congruent with our inner world. More specifically, the current retrograde patterns provide us all with the opportunity to re-think how we utilize the energy of each planet in its sign and the house it is transiting in our personal horoscope. More information about this is available at the end of this newsletter.
Chiron retrogrades back into Aries on the 18th until April 2027 for some final sorting out of our Chiron in Aries issues. Chiron transits can bring up unresolved toxicity and old wounds that we thought we had dealt with. There is always the potential for healing and discovering new way forward based on acceptance of what is; a coming to terms with things we cannot change and finding ways to empower ourselves. This will relate to the affairs of the house where Aries is found in your horoscope as well Aries concerns such as identity, autonomy and assertion. We may need to come to terms with the issues that provoke anger, aggression and selfish behaviour in ourselves and others, or may see more of this collectively but choose to find a new way to respond.
New Moon at 18 Virgo 26 on September 11
The annual Virgo New Moon invites us to explore our relationship with this complex sign and become more conscious of the Virgo part of us. Virgo has a great need to serve and be helpful as well as having excellent technical gifts. Virgo can always see how something can be done better or more efficiently. The sextile to Mars suggests opportunities to find new ways forward.
Virgo is therefore the perfectionist and worrier of the zodiac, so this new moon always challenges us to find more gentleness and compassion for ourselves and others. It may require letting go destructive [self] criticism and judgements that generate anxiety and alienation [dysfunctional Virgo]. It may be the perfect time to decide to do something detailed that you have been putting off for some time. It is also a good time to do some clearing and reorganizing.

Full Moon at 3 Aries 37 on September 27
This full moon is quite complex as it forms a tight conjunction with Neptune, a looser conjunction with Saturn, is trine to Mars and sextile Uranus and Pluto. This suggests if we can work with Neptune and Saturn there could be opportunities. This lunation will also be a trigger for anyone having Neptune transits, so beware.
Saturn conjunct Neptune suggests the potential to make our dreams a reality if we can avoid the shadow of each planet. Saturn’s influence suggests the need to be patient and disciplined and not allow the negative voices in our heads to gain dominance.
Neptune can create illusion as well as heighten sensitivity [on all levels] that can be wonderful for our spiritual practice, inner work and creativity, but is much more challenging for getting things done in the ‘real’ world. Neptune always calls us to open our hearts and listen to our intuition which often communicate with us through images, symbols, feelings and sometimes through our body and its symptoms. Once again, can you allow your feelings and dreams to offer you guidance while avoiding the pitfalls of denial, self-delusion and wishful thinking?
The conjunction of the two, Saturn and Neptune, calls us to take responsibility for our dreams and ground them in some form of action [Aries], but not to act before we have a clear intention.
The Full Moon highlights the Aries Libra polarity and its contradictions: the Aries need for independence, adventure autonomy and challenges versus the Libra need for partnership, co-operation and compromise. Aries embodies the masculine Warrior archetype and is active, dynamic, competitive, forceful, and sometimes egocentric. Libra embodies the feminine/ lover archetype and is more concerned with fairness, equality, balance, harmony. Libra is more relationship focused and inclined to compromise for the greater good. Ideally, we can find ways to express both polarities, whatever our gender or sexual orientation.

The current retrograde motion of the outer planets provides us all with the opportunity to re-think how we utilize the energy of each planet in the sign and the house it is transiting in our personal horoscope. These transits will become a lot more active for us if the planets are forming an aspect with a point in our personal horoscope.

- Saturn: retrograde from around 14 back to 7 Aries from July 27 to December 11. Saturn calls us to claim our authority, take responsibility for our current situation and avoid the blame game. He can activate our Inner Critic but also challenges us to create strong, healthy boundaries. If we feel flat it may be Saturn’s way of challenging us to take CONSTRUCTIVE ACTION. We may need to something we have been avoiding that we know we need to do.
- Chiron: August 4 to January 2027 from around 1 Taurus back to 26 Aries. Chiron symbolizes our ability to reconcile opposites and come to accept our physical, emotional and spiritual limitations and wounds. What wounds may you be holding onto here? How might this serve you in some perverse way? Are you ready to let go an attachment to being the victim and be who you really are, warts and all?
- Uranus: retrograde from nearly 6 back to around 1 Gemini from September 11 to February 8 2027.Uranus calls us to be our authentic self and find our own unique way of being. Are you giving in to your super ego and not being true to yourself? Is your inner critic stopping you from making the changes that your soul knows it needs to grow? Or are you acting out and sabotaging yourself by running away or engaging in rebellious behaviour just to prove a point?
- Neptune: retrograde from July 7 to December 13 from around 4 to 1 Aries. Neptune symbolizes our ability to surrender our ego and open to the imaginal, spiritual and transpersonal realms. Do you listen to your intuition and have some way of accessing the guidance that comes through the symbolic realm of images and feelings? Are you in touch with your feelings and able to accept them as messengers from your soul? Or do you abandon yourself and fall into negative escapist / addictive patterns and denial?
- Pluto: retrograde May 7 to October 16 from around 6 back to 3 Aquarius. The shadow can become more active at this time so beware of the need to reflect on what self-mastery might mean for you and embrace your fears about letting go ego-based power and control so you can surrender to your Higher Self / Divine Will. What are you holding onto that no longer serves you and keeps you trapped in a fear based paradigm? How can you work with your fear so it no longer controls you …or has less control?
