September Newsletter

September sees the second eclipse season for 2025 with the Total Lunar Eclipse providing quite a show for most of the Earth’s population.

Both eclipses promise to be spectacular to observe but the Solar eclipse will only be visible for most of us through live streams.

Blessings

  3. 2025 Astrology Classes & Consultations

August begins with Mercury, Saturn, Chiron, Neptune and Pluto all retrograde with Uranus joining them on the 6th.
Note: all dates are for Australian Eastern Time.
  • September 1: Saturn retrogrades back to Pisces
  • September 2: Mercury to Virgo
  • September 6: Uranus stations retrograde
  • September 8: Total Lunar Eclipse [Full Moon] at 15 Pisces 22
  • September 18: Mercury to Libra
  • September 19: Venus to Virgo
  • September 22: Partial Solar Eclipse [New Moon] at 29 Virgo
  • September 22: Mars to Scorpio
  • September 23: Spring Equinox [Southern Hemisphere] when Sun reaches 0 Libra

Saturn, Chiron, Neptune and Pluto are all retrograde now and Uranus will join them on September 6, meaning that all the planets from Saturn out will be in the retrograde phase of their orbits. This will emphasize the process of re-evaluation and introspection.

The key events this month are the two eclipses, marking the second eclipse season for 2025.

Eclipses are energetically neutral  they often illuminate whatever is going on  for us in the area they fall in our natal horoscope, bringing to consciousness whatever may be simmering below the surface.

About 70% of eclipses return to the same degree of the zodiac every 19 years – called the Metonic return – and these two eclipses are both are part of these cycles and were last experienced in September 2006. You may like to reflect back on what was happening for you then, but with the awareness that you have 19 more years of wisdom and consciousness to draw on this time.

Total Lunar Eclipse [Full Moon] at close to 15 Pisces

…peaks at  4.08am on September 8 Australian Eastern Standard Time.

As it will be dark over Australia [and a large part of the world], this eclipse will be visible as long as there is no cloud cover. The eclipse is heralded as a Blood Moon eclipse as the moon will turn red. It is the longest lunar eclipse since 2022 and will last about 83 minutes from beginning to end with 77% of the Earth’s population able to see the whole eclipse, and 88% will see at least some of it. Definitely worth getting up early to see.

The eclipse falls at 15 Pisces 22 with the Moon in Pisces [conjunct the North Node] opposing the Sun in Virgo [on the South Node] and conjunct Mercury. The Moon also forms a yod with Venus and Mars at the base. This suggests relationships may be highlighted at this time with decisions to be made about future directions, especially for anyone with planets and points around 15 Pisces.

Picture
As all full moons highlight a sign and house polarity the houses where these points fall may require some re-balancing. The Pisces Virgo polarity suggests the need for balance between the physical realm of Virgo and the emotional intuitive realm of Pisces: we are challenged to balance the practical, grounded, everyday reality of Virgo with the feeling, intuitive, imaginal and spiritual realm of Pisces. The Moon in Pisces calls us to open our hearts, listen to our intuition and see the big picture while the Sun in Virgo challenges us to stay grounded and attend to the details. We could see this as both a call to ground our dreams in the world of form as well as to soften our perfectionist and self-critical sides.

Partial Solar Eclipse [New Moon] at 29 Virgo

…at 5.54am on September 22 Australian Eastern Standard Time, the day before the Spring Equinox.

The eclipse with be partially visible  in New Zealand and the South Pacific — and according to the Live Science website a handful of people (and millions of penguins) in Antarctica — will see a dramatic "crescent sunrise" as an eclipsed sun emerges from the horizon. Dubbed the "equinox eclipse." It will occur within the same 24 hours as the equinox, the moment when the sun appears to cross the celestial equator, heading southward to bring spring to the Southern Hemisphere as autumn begins in the north. Worth checking a live stream to see this!

Virgo is the perfectionist and worrier of the zodiac so this New Moon eclipse – along with Saturn’s presence at the tail of the kite - challenges us to find more gentleness and compassion for ourselves and others. It may require letting go destructive [self] criticism and judgements that generate anxiety and alienation [dysfunctional Virgo]. It may be the perfect time to decide to do something detailed that you have been putting off for some time: a good time to do some clearing and reorganizing.

Picture
This eclipse forms the apex of tight grand trine / kite configuration with the Sun and Moon trine to Uranus and Pluto and opposing Neptune and Saturn. So this eclipse may be a trigger and be felt more intensely for anyone having Neptune and Saturn transits as they both make close oppositions [within 1 degree] to the Eclipse point / New Moon. The trines from Uranus and Pluto suggest the potential for constructive change and possible shifts [or transformation] if we can work with the oppositions from both Saturn and Neptune. Saturn and Neptune function as the tail of the ‘kite’ pattern and need to be utilized constructively to allow the kite to take flight.

Saturn conjunct Neptune suggests the potential to make our dreams our reality if we can avoid the shadow of each planet.

Saturn, as already mentioned, suggests the need to be patient and disciplined and not allow the negative voices in our heads to gain dominance.

Neptune can create illusion as well as heighten sensitivity [on all levels] that can be wonderful for our spiritual practice, inner work and creativity, but is much more challenging for getting things done in the ‘real’ world. Neptune always calls us to open our hearts and listen to our intuition which often communicate with us through images, symbols, feelings and sometimes through our body and its symptoms.  Once again, can you allow your feelings and dreams to offer you guidance while avoiding the pitfalls of denial, self-delusion and wishful thinking?

Saturn also challenges us to take responsibility for our negative Neptunian patterns that can manifest as addictions, co-dependent patterns and relationships, immune disorders, illusions, fantasies, deception and self-deception

The conjunction of the two, Saturn and Neptune, calls us to take responsibility for our dreams and ground them in some form of action, but not to act before we have a clear intention.

May the Goddess & God Bless You All
Christine
