October begins with all the outer planets retrograde: Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, but Pluto stations direct on the 14th. Note: all dates are for Australian Eastern Daylight Time.
The retrograde movement of the planets always emphasizes the process of review, reflection and re-evaluation, personally and collectively and this month each of these five outer planets, all retrograde or stationery [Pluto] will form a challenging aspect to the New Moon on October 21.
If things aren’t working, or you feel flat, discouraged and frustrated, accept this as a sign to find a new way forward that reflects the person that you aspire to become, especially around the New Moon, or if you have planets and points close to 28 degrees of cardinal signs.
This annual retrograde movement of all the superior planets from Saturn out is a reminder that we need to undergo a regular internal stock-take and see if our outer world is congruent with our inner world. [Note: Jupiter will join the retrograde pack on November 12 and Pluto will make its station direct on the 14th of this month]
More specifically, the current retrograde patterns provide us all with the opportunity to re-think how we utilize the energy of each planet in its sign and the house it is transiting in our personal horoscope.
More information on each of these planets for both general consideration as well as their potential for growth at the end of this email.
Full Moon in Aries on October 7
The Aries Full Moon is the first of three full moon supermoons, so called as they appear bigger than the usual Full Moon and quite a bit brighter. Supermoon is not a scientific term, but it describes the phenomenon which occurs when the full moon is within 90% of perigee, or closet position to Earth. [The moon is at its perigee the next day.] This intensifies the gravitational pull of the Moon on the Earth and its waters and can lead to high tides and sometimes floods, and sometimes earthquakes as the earth’s core is molten and influenced by the Moon’s pull. Energetically it can impact on lunar sensitive people [as we are 70% liquid], so beware this effect and reacting or overreacting to emotional triggers.
This full moon falls at close to 14 Aries and forms a t-square with Jupiter in Cancer at the apex. Jupiter also plays a part in the New Moon chart so it may be wise to pay attention to this energy and impulses to act out impulsively or aggressively as Jupiter can highlight the full moon effect. With Jupiter in Cancer, it may be hurt feelings that trigger us to a flight or fight reaction. However, if we can harness the positive Jupiter it can bring confidence and opportunities if we can avoid inflation and impulsiveness.

The Full Moon highlights the Aries Libra polarity and contradictions: the Aries need for independence, adventure autonomy and challenges versus the Libra need for partnership, co-operation and compromise. Aries embodies the masculine Warrior archetype and is active, dynamic, competitive, forceful, and sometimes egocentric. Libra embodies the feminine/ lover archetype and is more concerned with fairness, equality, balance, harmony. Libra is more relationship focused and inclined to compromise for the greater good. Ideally, we can find ways to express both polarities, whatever our gender or sexual orientation.
The full moon may bring to focus where we are out of balance here. It is often though the mechanism of projection that we see this more clearly so be prepared to find your inner warrior or meet it in others.
New Moon on October 21 at close to 28 Libra
This New Moon makes challenging aspects to all the outer planets: Jupiter, Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, all within a tight 4 degree orb. It also creates two challenging aspect patterns - Grand Cross and a Yod - and may act as a trigger for people experiencing transits from these planets, especially to planets and points close to 28 degrees of the cardinal signs: Libra, Aries, Cancer and Capricorn.

Firstly, the New Moon is in Libra, is symbolized by the Scales of Justice. Each year this New Moon illuminates the area of our chart [and psyche] where we have a need for fairness, partnership, equality and harmony. Social justice comes sharply into focus; we may notice unfairness and inequality and feel called to take a stand on behalf of others or ourselves but beware the pitfalls mentioned below.
The Libran Scales of Justice also challenge us to see where we have lost our balance in our lives, especially in our relationships. The Libran New Moon is always a powerful time to attend to our partnerships – professional as well as personal – and all significant one-on-one relationships.
The Grand Cross pattern contains an opposition to Chiron and squares to both Jupiter and Pluto. The square from Jupiter may intensify any reaction, especially to feelings of injustice and unfairness.
The opposition from Chiron in Aries calls us to be true to our Self [or Higher Self]. Sometimes we pay a price for moving beyond the stereotyped roles and rules of the collective, but this aspect may indicate the need to stand in our truth and risk rejection; it is the call to individuate and accept ourselves [and others] with our [their] imperfections. This will be especially relevant for people with planets around 24 to 29 degrees of cardinal signs.
Pluto in early Aquarius is square the New Moon and is station t direct on October 14. When a planet is doing this, we can think of it as drawing attention to itself. Everything else is moving but it is staying still. Pluto invites us to reflect on self-mastery and embrace our fears about letting go ego-based power and control. How can you work with your fear, so it no longer controls you …or has less control? Beware of your shadow overshadowing you at the moment.
The New Moon also forms the apex of a yod formation with Saturn conjunct Neptune and Uranus, suggesting a fork in the road and a challenge to take another path, or perhaps a challenge to make adjustments to a path we are currently undertaking.
Chironic forms of healing may well be very powerful at this time: homeopathy, energy/ vibrational medicine and attending to the wisdom revealed through our dreams.
The Retrograde Outer Planets
This information can be read for everyone in the houses where they are transiting but the energy may be intensified for anyone with planets around 28 degrees of Libra as each of these planets is triggering this point at the New Moon.
Remember, the current retrograde patterns provide us all with the opportunity to re-think how we utilize the energy of each planet in its sign and the house it is transiting in our personal horoscope.
Pluto challenges us to reflect on self-mastery, embrace our fears about letting go ego-based power and control so we can surrender to our Higher Self / Divine Will. What are you holding onto that no longer serves you and keeps you trapped in a fear based paradigm? How can you work with your fear so it no longer controls you …or has less control?

- Saturn: retrograde July 13 to November 28 from 1 Aries 56 back to 25 Pisces. Saturn calls us to claim our authority, take responsibility for our current situation and avoid the blame game. He can activate our Inner Critic but also challenges us to create strong, healthy boundaries. If we feel flat it may be Saturn’s way of goading us to take CONSTRUCTIVE ACTION. We may need to take the bull by the horns and do something we have been avoiding that we know we need to do.
- Chiron: retrograde August 1 to January 4 2026 from 27 to 22 degrees of Aries. Chiron symbolizes our ability to reconcile opposites and come to accept our physical, emotional and spiritual limitations and wounds. Are you stuck in your wounds and unable to let them go? How might this serve you in some perverse way? Are you ready to let go an attachment to being the victim and be who you really are, warts and all?
- Uranus: retrograde September 6 to February 5 2026 from 1 Gemini 12 back to 27 Taurus. Uranus calls us to be our authentic self and find our own unique way of being. Are you giving in to your super ego and not being true to yourself? Is your inner critic stopping you from making the changes that your soul knows it requires to grow? Or are you acting out and sabotaging yourself by running away or engaging in rebellious behavior just to prove a point?
- Neptune: retrograde July 5 to December 10 from 2 Aries 10 to 29 Pisces 22. Neptune symbolizes our ability to surrender our ego and open to the imaginal, spiritual and transpersonal realms. Do you listen to your intuition and have some way of accessing the guidance that comes through the symbolic realm of images and feelings? Are you in touch with your feelings and able to accept them as messengers from your soul? Or do you abandon yourself and fall into negative escapist / addictive patterns and denial?
- Pluto: retrograde May 5 to October 14 from 3 Aquarius 49 to 1 Aquarius 22. Pluto will make its station this month and its energy becomes more focused. The shadow can become more active at this time so beware of the following.
May the Goddess & God Bless You All
