Saturn to Aries on May 25

With Saturn entering Aries on May 25 the sign of Aries is highlighted for the next few years as it will join Neptune, Chiron and Eris.

Saturn’s cycle around the Sun is about 29 ½ years therefore, on average, it spends about 2 ½ years in each sign. This month dips its toe into Aries for just over 3 months from May 25 until September 1 when it will retrograde back into Pisces until February 14, 2026, when it will join Neptune, Chiron and Eris in Aries for the next few years.

I talked about Neptune’s transit of Aries last month and the collective urge to idealize all things Aries it symbolizes, but Saturn’s energy is quite different to Neptune’s. Saturn invites us all to become more grounded, structured and responsible about how we claim the Aries archetype. Saturn wants accountability and for us to demonstrate our authority in this sphere. Saturnian archetypes include the Wise Elder who has learned from time and experience while the shadow archetypes include the Bully and the Inner Critic.

How might this play out in Aries? If you know the house[s] where Aries is located in your chart you can relate these themes to this area of your life.

We may be challenged to demonstrate hard work, leadership and courage and learn lessons about discipline, resilience and self-sufficiency.

We may be challenged to find ways to become more independent and self-motivated rather than relying on others.

We may be confronted with our limitations and feel trapped in a situation but need to be aware of re-acting impulsively or aggressively.

We may be confronted with our ego, anger and self-centeredness.

Aries always tests us, but we do need to be true to our Self. The challenge is to find a way to do this that does not violate the rights of others or harm them intentionally.

We may find people and leaders who are intolerant and egotistical may be called to become more accountable.

Wesak: Full Moon at 22 Scorpio on May 13

Each year in April or May the Scorpio full moon marks the annual Festival of Buddha, known as WESAK. This lunation honours both the physical birth of the Buddha and his spiritual birth or enlightenment. Wesak invites us to refocus on our spiritual lives and look at what needs to be released or let go, so we can become more compassionate and awakened. The days either side of Wesak [the full moon] are potent times for inner work, reflection, meditation and letting go.

Picture
However, Wesak is also the Full Moon in Scorpio, which is an opportunity for us to explore our emotional blocks and fears, especially blocks to intimacy and sharing in both our personal relationships and on a global level.

The Scorpio Moon can be highly charged and emotionally intense. It may constellate fears of rejection and a preference for solitude rather than risking the pain of intimacy and possible loss. This conflict can lead to times of grief and loneliness, whether we are in a relationship or not. This Full Moon asks us to open our hearts and reflect on what loving kindness means, both for our relationship with ourselves and with others. This Scorpio Full Moon always challenges us to explore whatever we have buried deep in our personal underworld so  this is a powerful time for deep sharing and strengthening of intimate connections of all kinds.

The opposition with the Sun in Taurus highlights the Scorpio / Taurus polarity: the urge to build and create as opposed to the urge to destroy, let go and transform. It is also about the urge to share and risk vulnerability [Scorpio] versus the urge to hold onto what is ours. All these patterns may come up for review under this lunation.

With Uranus opposite the Full Moon this lunation will activate:
  • The house where around 20 to 27 degrees of Scorpio is located. [Moon is at 22 degrees of Scorpio and Uranus is at  27 degrees of Taurus]
  • Any planets or points between around 20 to 28 degrees of fixed signs: Taurus, Scorpio, Leo and Aquarius

This lunation will activate any chart that has been experiencing the transits of Uranus over the last year, acting as a trigger to awaken us to necessary changes. Uranus challenges us to be open to exploring new ways of experiencing tany  parts of Self being activated. It may suggest a shift in values, personally and collectively that can lead us to feel more authentic. The danger here is impulsive reactions that may sabotage our best interest. Beware the urge to act out or run away [shadow Uranus] and perhaps give yourself some time out to reflect on any impulsive urges to see if they are a true reflection of your need to individuate and live your truth.

May New Moon & Super Moon at 6 Gemini on May 27

Each year the Gemini New Moon suggests a busy time when our curiosity may be stimulated. It can create a more sociable and extroverted atmosphere where we may feel inclined to explore something new or just break out of our routine.  The Gemini New Moon also highlights our thinking and communicating and can illuminate outmoded patterns that are ripe for change.

This New Moon is also another Super Moon – one that falls closer to the Earth.  Super Moons impact on the earth’s waters and can sometimes bring strong storms and flooding as we have seen as the last few New Moons which have also been Super Moons. Energetically supermoons  can have a powerful effect on anyone who is lunar, heightening any feelings that you are experiencing..

Picture
This new moon is conjunct Mercury [ nearly 4 degrees], trine to Pluto [ 2 degrees] and in a wide conjunction with Uranus [ 8 degrees and 15 minutes]. It also makes a tighter sextile to Neptune [ 4 degrees] and wider sextile to Saturn [nearly 6 degrees]. The aspects are mainly supportive of communications and all things Gemini, including learning, socializing and relationships with peers and siblings. The somewhat wide conjunction from Uranus may challenge our thinking and relationships, or at least invite us to see a situation from a new perspective.
May the Goddess & God Bless You All
