The current square between Jupiter and Saturn becomes part of the major stressful pattern for 2016 as Neptune and Saturn form their second exact square on June 18 and the New Moon on June 5 aligns to form a mutable grand cross. This is a very unpredictable configuration that can create chaos and volatility.

June Overview
Mercury turned direct on May 22 but does not leave the retrograde loop until June 8. This means that for the first month in June things may be still a little slow and unpredictable, especially in the area of life symbolized by the house position where Mercury retrograded in your personal horoscope [between 14 and 23 Taurus]. This is also the time to act consciously on new ideas and insights gained during the retrograde phase but be mindful that Mars does not move direct until the end of this month and He may be challenging you to do things differently.
Mars moved retrograde on April 17 at 8 Sag 53 and will remain retrograde until June 30 when it turns direct at 23 Scorpio. Key times and dates in this cycle are:

The time after Mars moves direct – June 30 – is time to put new plans and strategies into action.
The New Moon in June occurs at 15 degrees of Gemini, forming a very potent grand cross formation with the current T-square involving Jupiter, Neptune and Saturn. All these planets are in mutable signs, emphasizing the volatility of this aspect pattern.
A grand cross suggests four energies all exerting a strong pull simultaneously but not wanting the same thing …they pull in the four different directions symbolized by the four mutable signs: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. Anyone who has planets around the mid degrees of these [mutable] signs will be experiencing this tension via the transits of Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune and the New Moon on June 5 may act as a catalyst to challenge you to see things differently.
A mutable grand cross suggests unpredictable energy that can tend towards chaos as different options and scenarios present themselves. Mutable grand crosses can create high anxiety and the challenge is not to react to events but to find a way to sit in your centre and observe the conflicting energies and respond from your centre.
The main competing energies are Saturn, Jupiter and Neptune.
Saturn calls us to claim our authority, take responsibility for our situation and avoid the blame game. He also challenges us create strong, healthy boundaries. If we fall flat it is Saturn’s way of goading us to take CONSTRUCTIVE ACTION.
Jupiter calls us to expand our horizons and see past our everyday limited perspective to grasp the big picture. Can you identify any limiting beliefs that may be keeping you trapped?
Neptune calls us to open our hearts and open to the realm of feelings, images, symbols and imagination. Can you allow your feelings and dreams to offer you guidance while avoiding denial, self-delusion and wishful thinking?
All of this may seem incredibly complex but the essence of this process is to sit in your centre, observe the chaos of the competing energies and open to the wisdom of your heart. Don’t allow yourself to be pressured into doing anything, or making a decision unless it feels right and ALLOW YOUR HEART TO GUIDE YOU!

The Full Moon on June 20 falls at 29 degrees of Sagittarius, the final degree of Sagittarius. The final degree of any sign is known as the anaretic or crisis degree, hence there may be some crisis of faith, confidence or belief as his full moon highlights our beliefs and calls us to see the big picture. The Sagittarian quest is the Search for Meaning, hence this full moon invites us to step back and see the bigger picture in our lives and expand our awareness and sense of what is possible for ourselves and humanity. It invites us to recharge our internal reserves of optimism and envision a future through this lens.
Saturn Square Neptune: 2015 to 2016
[reprinted from the November 2015 Newsletter with some additions]
The Saturn/ Neptune cycle is all about giving form and structure to our dreams and ideals. On a collective level this can be the cycle that charts the birth and death of ideologies and the institutions that give them form.
This Saturn square to Neptune is the waning square in the cycle that began in 1989 when Saturn and Neptune conjuncted [joined together] at 10 and 11° Capricorn. This transit coincided with the destruction of the Berlin Wall, the end of the communist era in the USSR and the dismantling of apartheid in South Africa as well as the birth of the World Wide Web.
The Saturn/ Neptune cycle is a 35 to 36 year cycle the charts the evolution and devolution [Neptune] of all forms of structure [Saturn]. We are now coming towards the end of this cycle and can expect to see a testing of the new forms that were birthed at the conjunction. It can also be a time of CRISIS where structures that have not fulfilled their idealistic promise start to dissolve, especially if they have not been built on solid foundations.
This transit will become exact three times.
The main testing points in this [and any] cycle are the waxing square [1998 to 1999], the opposition [2006 to 2007] and the current waning square [2015 to 2016]. This transit is therefore a major turning point that suggests the need to honour the Saturnian principle and re-evaluate and take responsibility for all our personal and collective [Neptunian] dreams and ideals and the structures we have created to give them form [Saturn].
All Saturnian structures are up for review at the moment – especially those that were seeded at the start of this cycle in 1989 - including government, all forms of authority including police and military organization, big business, law and the economy.
Also up for review are all personal forms of structure that include our relationships and career as well as our personal authority and the boundaries that we create to maintain our integrity.
Saturn/ Neptune hard aspects have often [not always] coincided with times of recession and economic downturn, especially where growth has been inflated and not based on the true worth of an object. This is not a time for financial speculation and fortunes can be lost when speculative bubbles burst. Certainly this transit suggests the need for political and economic reform, reinforcing the energy of the square between Uranus and Pluto.
PERSONALLY…
Saturn may test your dreams, so beware and be willing to accept the tests and learn the lessons that Saturn brings your way. THIS IS A TIME OF POTENTIAL CRISIS, A FINAL TESTING OF STRUCTURES AND DREAMS TO ALLOW US TO SEE WHAT IS REAL AND WHAT MAY HAVE OUTLIVED ITS USED BY DATE AND NEEDS TO BE SURRENDERED .
Any Saturnian blocks, obstacles and fears that arise need to be accepted, faced and worked with. If you have a tool that helps you to release limiting beliefs and inner blocks then commit to the inner work as well as the outer work. Saturn will reward you.
Naïve dreams and ideals that are based purely on fantasy and not backed up by a willingness to ground them in the real world may disintegrate and cause some grief and sadness. Better to let them go and put your energy into something REAL, or at least something you are willing to try to make real.
Saturn also challenges us to take responsibility for our negative Neptunian patterns that can manifest as addictions, co-dependent patterns and relationships, immune disorders, illusions, fantasies, deception and self-deception. Illusions can be shattered and self-deception revealed at this time, but it is also a very potent time to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for addictive patterns and do the hard work necessary to face demons that have been long denied or accommodated. Good luck!
The Winter Solstice: 8.34am June 21 [A.E.S.T.]
[For our Northern Hemisphere friends this will be the Summer Solstice]
The Winter Solstice or Cancer Ingress of the Sun marks the time of the longest nights and shortest days in the Southern hemisphere, when the Sun is reborn from the darkness. The times of sunrise and sunset appear to stand still for two weeks before and after the peak time of June 21, and then the day light begins to slowly lengthen [or shorten in the Northern Hemisphere]. The Winter Solstice symbolizes the rebirth of the solar principle and the light and the divine spark within us all. It marks the beginning of a new solar cycle and is time for those of us who live in the Southern Hemisphere to create our New Year Resolutions and reflect on what we want to achieve in the coming year.

It marks the beginning of a new solar cycle and is time for those of us who live in the Southern Hemisphere to create our New Year Resolutions and reflect on what we want to achieve in the coming year.
The Solstice marks the moment of the Cancer Ingress, the moment when the Sun is overhead at the Tropic of Cancer and moves into the sign of Cancer. The four ingress charts [the solstices and equinoxes] mark the turning points in the seasonal cycle and the annual solar cycle. As such they are given added weight in astrology and are considered to influence the next quarter, or three months.
This Solstice falls the day after the Full Moon and chart contains the Sun conjunct Venus and square to Chiron.
With Chiron so prominent, this chart indicates the possible simultaneous activation and healing of wounds of both the body and soul as Chiron is associated with the archetype of the Wounded Healer.
Chironic wounds can be soul making as they invite [and challenge] us to see the bigger picture of the soul rather than the limited perspective of the ego. Chironic forms of healing are ones that access the symbolic realm of dreams. They may call on us to accept and embrace our uniqueness and differences and be who we truly are, even if this causes us some angst and the disapproval of family, friends and society.
In essence, Chiron is the call to individuate and move beyond the limited perspective of not just the ego, but also the limited perspective of our conditioning and socialization. How can you be more authentic?
Are you being called to step into your truth in a way that may challenge some of your relationships?
Can you give yourself permission to do this?
A Simple Solstice Ritual
The most traditional way to celebrate the Solstice is to rise early on the day of June 21 to observe and honour the sunrise. Ideally you will find a place where you can observe the horizon, free of buildings and welcome the Sun as He appears. Allow yourself to be filled with wonder and gratitude for His rebirth. As the Sun gains strength and power, feel yourself being blessed with His light and vitality and invoke the blessing of the Divine Masculine for the year ahead.
A special Solstice meal is another wonderful way to honour this energy. This is the time for roast dinners and a roaring fire where traditionally a special Yule log was burned to honour the Sun and bring his warmth and radiance into the home. If you don’t have a fire then light gold candle to honour the Sun and invite his blessings into your life and home.
A more intimate ritual could also be called for…
Create a sacred space with candles, incense, meditation and intention. Tune into your inner guidance to find the seeds of new potentials that are stirring within your inner darkness. When you are ready, record the seeds in red or gold ink [as long as they do not seek to influence or harm any other individual] and then burn them in your fire or from your candle. As the paper burns, see your seeds flowering and your potentials manifesting as the fays grow longer and the Sun grows stronger. Give thanks and light your candle whenever you need to refresh your visions and intentions.
Blessed Be!
