July 2016 Newsletter
This newsletter is free. To subscribe just send a blank email with the subject SUBSCRIBE from the email address you wish to subscribe from – likewise to UNSUBSCRIBE.
This is a shorter newsletter than usual; like many people I have found the June Grand Cross quite chaotic and am looking forward to some time out.
July begins with the mutable T-square – Saturn square to both Jupiter and Neptune - still active. When the Moon transits Gemini – around July 2 to 3 - it re-forms the June Grand Cross, adding spice and a wildcard energy to both the collective energy and the Australian Federal Elections.
On a personal/ soul level it feels like it is an opportunity to break free of the past and re-invent ourselves as the chaos loosens rigid perceptions and beliefs.
Blessings

July Overview
The Mutable Grand Cross re-forms early this month when the Moon [which symbolizes the ‘masses’ or the general population in mundane astrology] transits Gemini around July 2nd to 3rd, filling in the ‘missing leg’ of the T-square between Saturn, Neptune and Jupiter. This suggests that the current collective chaos and unpredictability will still be a feature of July, especially early July and the Australian Federal Election. It does not bode well for a clear and decisive outcome and suggests an unexpected outcome – think Brexit – with people changing their mind at the last minute about how they intend to vote. The final result may take some time to become clear, especially in the Senate.
Remember, a mutable grand cross suggests four energies all exerting a strong pull simultaneously, but not wanting the same thing. They pull in the four different directions symbolized by the four mutable signs: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.
Mutable grand crosses can create high anxiety and the challenge is not to react to events but to find a way to sit quietly and observe the conflicting energies / demands and respond from our centre. They challenge us to remain flexible and open to the process of change. Chaos can be highly creative if we can open ourselves to new possibilities and are willing to let go the past along with old outmoded ways of being, thinking and re-acting.
The main competing energies in the Grand Cross continue to be Saturn, Jupiter and Neptune.
Saturn calls us to claim our authority, take responsibility for our current situation and avoid the blame game. He also challenges us to create strong, healthy boundaries. If we fall flat it is Saturn’s way of goading us to take CONSTRUCTIVE ACTION.
Jupiter calls us to expand our horizons and see past our everyday limited perspective to grasp the big picture. Can you identify any limiting beliefs that may be keeping you trapped?
Neptune calls us to open our hearts and open to the realm of feelings, images, symbols and imagination. Can you allow your feelings and dreams to offer you guidance? And more importantly …CAN YOU ALLOW YOUR HEART TO GUIDE YOU?
Mars moved direct on June 30 at 23 Scorpio and will re-cover the degrees of the zodiac that it retrograded over. This process of re-covery will last until August 22 when Mars leaves the retrograde loop. This is the optimum time to put new plans and strategies into action, especially those that were seeded during the retrograde phase that began on April 17.
This process is highlighted by the strong retrograde mood created by the outer planets. By the end of this month all of the planets from Saturn out – Saturn, Chiron, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto – will be retrograde, intensifying the process of reflection and review. This will be especially powerful for anyone who has any of these planets transiting personal planets and points in their horoscope. The retrograde phase of any transit can be a potent time for looking at any situation from a different perspective. They challenge us to ‘wake up’, become conscious and think laterally about where we find ourselves.
The combined energy of the mutable grand cross and the retrograde phenomenon offer us the opportunity to surrender to the chaos and re-imagine ourselves and our lives, perhaps even to re-invent ourselves if we have the courage to flow with the energy and sit in our centre.
Good luck!
The New Moon on July 4 occurs at close to 13 degrees of Cancer. It contains a number of significant aspects with both Mercury and Venus conjunct the New Moon while Pluto opposes all four planets.

The New Moon on July 4 occurs at close to 13 degrees of Cancer. It contains a number of significant aspects with both Mercury and Venus conjunct the New Moon while Pluto opposes all four planets.
The New Moon in Cancer is always time to reflect on family, the past, belonging and what constitutes our emotional security… and to set some new intentions around discovering and acting on what nurtures us.
The New Moon conjunct Mercury and Venus suggests the need to communicate with our loved ones and let them know what we need to feel nurtured. With Pluto opposite the Full Moon, as well as Mercury and Venus, we are challenged to go deep and face our fears about speaking our truth and opening our hearts. We are also challenged to claim our power but not in a manipulative or controlling way. In fact we are asked to let go control and trust in the process
The Full Moon on July 20 falls at 27 degrees of Capricorn and forms a T-square with Uranus, the God of Change and Awakenings. The full moon is essentially about working with polarized feeling states and seeing how we can find a more centered space where we can be this and that, not just this or that.

The Cancer / Capricorn polarity invites us to reflect on the balance between our public and private lives, career and family as well as achievement and nurturing. Life may have become all work and no play, leading us to feel overburdened with our responsibilities and therefore in danger of sinking into a depressed mood which allows the inner critic to take over. If life feels too hard, try to take some time out around the full moon to reflect on how you can experience more balance in your life, especially quality time with loved ones.
Uranus square the Full Moon brings an unpredictable energy into play, especially as Uranus is stationing preparing to move retrograde on July 30. It emphasizes the collective instability and the call to change and awaken to new possibilities. We need to beware of impulsive and erratic behaviour that may be destructive while remaining open to new perspectives that can be liberating.
