1. Total Solar Eclipse at 20 Leo on August 13
This eclipse falls across the Arctic Circle and moves over Greenland, then across the Atlantic to Spain and Portugal. It is the last of the new moon supermoons and gains added power from this.
Solar Eclipses are essentially turbo charged New Moons that signify potent endings and beginnings. They are energetically neutral but often bring to the surface whatever has been buried, hidden and repressed, especially regards the sign and house where the eclipse falls in the personal horoscope.
As this eclipse falls at 20 Leo it will activate the house where this is found in your horoscope plus any personal planets or points that are found close to the eclipse degree [around 20 Leo], or opposite that point [around 20 Aquarius], or perhaps at the two square aspects [around 20 degrees of Taurus and Scorpio]. Eclipses can herald a crisis, but they also provide the opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start again.
As this eclipse falls at 20 Leo it will activate the house where this is found in your horoscope plus any personal planets or points that are found close to the eclipse degree [around 20 Leo], or opposite that point [around 20 Aquarius], or perhaps at the two square aspects [around 20 degrees of Taurus and Scorpio]. Leo is a fire sign, and the area of your chart where it is found is under the spotlight. This eclipse challenges us to become aware of what ‘feeds our fire’ and brings passion into our lives. It will highlight the need to find and express our special gifts and share them with the world, or at least with those who are near and dear to us, especially through the area of life symbolized by the house position where it falls and regards any planetary placements it activates. We may feel the need to be validated and special. While it is also wonderful time to validate the people who inspire you try to become conscious or your own needs for recognition and find some healthy outlets for them.
The New Moon is always an opportune time to make resolutions and begin new projects; hence the Leo Eclipse challenges us to embrace our need to shine, feel special and appreciated as well as discover outlets for self-expression and explore new roles and identities.
The balsamic phase – the time before the eclipse – is a powerful time to reflect on old identities and roles that we have been hanging onto that may no longer serve us. We may be challenged to let them go, or to allow them to transform in a new direction. Who or what have you always wanted to be? This could be a time to embrace that dream. The proviso here is to beware the shadow side of Leo; egotistical and attention seeking behavior.
Full Moon of August 28 at close to 5 Pisces
This eclipse will be visible anywhere it is dark, but as it occurs around 2.20pm along the east of Australia we won’t see anything here. The eclipse activates around 5 degrees of mutable signs and forms a t-sqaure with Uranus at 5 Gemini. This means it may be a trigger for people having Uranus transits this year. All points involved in this eclipse – Pisces, Virgo and Uranus in Gemini – can be quite restless and can lead to anxiety and overwhelm if we do not find healthy containers for them. Try to find some quiet time to be and reflect on your life [journalling, meditation], or have some energy work that is calming and gives you space to reflect.

All these areas of the psyche are in a state of flux and require attention and perhaps change, especially if there is any planet or point located there.
The eclipse is reminding us of the need to find ways to live in the 2 worlds: practical and feeling, physical and imaginal, body and spirit, earthly and spiritual. We are called to remember that we are beings of light as well as of matter.
It is time to listen to our dreams and the whisperings of our Higher Self …our Soul. The North Node in Pisces is inviting us to surrender our ego & temper idealism with realism, doing with being, busy- ness with stillness.
Uranus square the eclipse point is reminding us to be open to change and new possibilities and challenges us to own our uniqueness and find ways to live truer to our Self. The shadow side can lead us to self-sabotage by running away or acting out if we are not willing to own this urge.
